Quality Standard 3: Teachers plan and deliver effective instruction and create an environment that facilitates learning for their students.

Standard Reflection:
This is the standard that has always been the most challenging for me. I frequently get stuck on the term effective. It is challenging to know how effective my teaching is when sometime. I don't see the lasting effect. I do think I achieved this standard but am still developing my skills. I think I need to focus on my instruction towards the students who maybe struggle more. Thinking about ways to help these individuals understanding of the content and how I can deliver effective instruction for them.

Element a: Teachers demonstrate knowledge about the ways in which learning takes place, including the levels of intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of their students.
Reasoning Statement:
This is the differentiation section on a project I did with 4th graders. We made clay pinch pot monsters. I loved this project and so did they. They were able to create something based on what they wanted to do. This lesson allowed for a lot of adaptability to students skill levels.
Element b: Teachers use formal and informal methods to assess student learning, provide feedback, and use results to inform planning and instruction.
Reasoning Statement:
This comes form the critiques I facilitated in my 3D design class for our Floating Fish. We had a formal self reflection/rubric sheet. We also had a more informal sheet to help scaffold their thoughts so when we shared out students had somethings to share. Both of these helped our students know what to expect for future critiques and helps support thinking with less scaffolding.
Element c: Teachers integrate and utilize appropriate available technology to engage students in authentic learning experiences.
Reasoning Statement: This presentation shares with beginning 3D Design students different aspects of a sketchbook while introducing their next project. Using a presentation is helpful to show as many examples that is accessible to students.
Element d: Teachers establish and communicate high expectations and use processes to support the development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Reasoning Statement:
For the project Object Animals my high school sculpture class had to problem solve how to create their idea. This was an advanced class since they all took 3D design, they had some exposer to building 3D already and I could not teach 30 different techniques on how to build or decorate their animals. Here are some of the final art works from the assignment.

Element e: Teachers provide students with opportunities to work in teams and develop leadership.
Reasoning Statement:
For family fun night the 3 fifth grade classes are working on a putt putt course. They are working in groups that they choose to design and build them. On family Fun night they will take a short turn watching over their mini golf hole, providing opportunity for the community to meet the artists.

Element f: Teachers model and promote effective communication.
Reasoning Statement: This is an email I sent to a student after they had missed a few days of class. I connected in person then summarized in my email what they needed to know. I also included my presentation so that they could see artist inspirations and student examples.
