Hello,

a bit about me:

My name is Abby Robinder, and I am a Visual Arts Teacher in Aurora, Colorado. I went to Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO, and earned my degree in Art Education in May 2023. My favorite mediums of art are ceramics and fibers. I love making teapots and working on cross-stitches! I grew up in Ames, Iowa, but have loved living in Colorado since moving out here for college. I love the mountains and spending time outside as well as cooking and baking.

I have always loved art class and expressing myself through my art. In my class, I hope to help students explore and find ways to express themselves. The art classroom is a great place to build life skills like problem-solving, embracing mistakes, and critical thinking. Art is a great way to do self-care for one's mental health and can be a relaxing class for some students. I believe in student-centered learning and choice in my curriculum to allow students to find art that they actually enjoy making. Art helped me so much throughout high school, and I want to provide a class that can support students in all areas of their lives.

When I think about how I ended up on this path, I remember that I always thought about being a teacher, but was never sure of what I would teach. Education was always valued in my family, with many family members working in schools. As I started exploring art and worked with my high school art teachers, I realized that I could teach art and never looked back!
